Give every room three light sources
One overhead fixture flattens a room. Add a floor lamp in the far corner and a table lamp at seated height, then put the overhead on a dimmer. The space gains depth after dark instead of one flat wash.
Let one thing be the loudest
Choose a single saturated piece and keep everything around it neutral. Repeat its colour once in a cushion or a throw, then stop.
Style surfaces in threes
On a coffee table or a console, group objects in odd numbers at three different heights: something tall, something low, something living.
Put a mirror opposite the light
A mirror facing a window doubles the daylight in a room and makes a narrow space read wider. Hang it so the centre sits at eye level rather than up near the ceiling.
